Our Renovation Project is Complete!

shelleyalper Blog

We had a double celebration on March 30, 2017,  at Treiser Maison Shalom. It was Richard’s 27th birthday and we also celebrated the completed renovation project made possible  with donations from our 2016 fundraising event. Our Carleton residence’s  respite room was totally redone and can now accommodate two clients. The staff and residents are thrilled with the room and say that it looks like a boutique hotel.  The remainder of the home was painted and freshened up with lively colours chosen by our interior designer, Sara Tauben, who donated her time to help us with this project.

A large collection of beautiful art, lighting and furniture was donated by Ryan Wilner and his team at RENWIL. The paintings reflect a theme of nature, which inspires a happy and peaceful environment. The staff’s favourite work of art called Wingham,  was created by RENWIL artist Michelle Glay, whose brother Richard lives at the home .

Holly Botner and Harriet Finkelstein gave us  a television and furniture items to complete the look.

Sara Tauben our interior designer and friend and her husband Irwin, were there to help us celebrate. A big thank you to all who made this happen.

Can you feel the LOVE tonight

Treiser Maison Shalom is a professionally run group home where people with intellectual, emotional and physical disabilities are cared for in a safe, stimulating and family style atmosphere. The homes (2 duplexes), have permanent residents and also care for a large number of respite children and young adults, providing short and long term relief for families of individuals with special needs.

Providing the much needed and unparalleled care for our family members on a daily basis has become increasingly costly as Governments continue to cutback funding, forcing us to seek support from other resources. The cost to support a single resident is in excess of $75,000 per year! Your generosity helps defray some of the cost. The resident’s quality of life depends on these much needed funds.

This year we are we are proud to be hosting an Elton John Tribute band. Sure to be a memorable evening with many surprises and of course all the great songs and sounds that made him famous. Expect surprise guests and a memorable evening!
